How much vitamin C to take? Try the "bowel challenge"

Vitamin C RDA might only be 65 to 90mg/day but in reality, most people, especially who are depleted in vitamin C, may need much higher doses.

We recommend temporary mega-dosing to replenish your levels, then back off. How much to dose up? Try the "bowel test" method. The idea is to dose up on vitamin C until you get a loose stool - this is your body's signal that it's saturated in Vitamin C and it's time to back off. Here is an example.

Vitamin C and Hormones Vitamin C is a highly underestimated vitamin when it comes to balancing hormones. Sufficient amount of vitamin C helps with progesterone production and nourishes the adrenal health. I personally also use it for clear, healthy skin, as Vitamin C is a building block for collagen production. – MAGDALENA WSZELAKI, FOUNDER OF WELLENA

Vitamin C deficiency might show up as:

  • Tiredness and weakness
  • Muscle and joint pains
  • Easy bruising
  • Spots that look like tiny, red-blue bruises on your skin
  • Dry skin
  • Splitting hair
  • Swelling and discoloration of your gums
  • Sudden and unexpected bleeding from your gums
  • Nosebleeds
  • Poor healing of wounds
  • Problems fighting infections
  • Bleeding into joints, causing severe joint pains
  • Changes in your bones
  • Tooth loss
  • Weight loss

Vitamin C Complete- Can it compete?

I just started taking this supplement so not sure yet on the results that I'm seeking. Hopefully it will not cause nausea and is as gentle as the Vitamin C Burst supplement that I had purchased in the past. The quality is excellent and I have had no issues with any of the supplements so far.

Frequently Asked Questions

We know that when ascorbic acid is combined with bioflavonoids, it increases the synergistic activities of vitamin C. Ascorbic acid has been researched thoroughly, and while there may be other compounds in whole foods that play a similar role, there is just no research yet to show what those are and if they are more efficacious than ascorbic acid.

As a general rule, though, whole-food supplements have a better absorption profile when compared to their synthetic counterparts. Science has not been able to duplicate the special energy that holds living foods together.

This is why we wanted to give you a choice, between two excellent options of our vitamin C; in ascorbic acid and 100% food-derived (which is Vitamin C Complete).

The recommended dose is 3 capsules per day, or as directed by your health practitioner.

You may increase the dose when doing the "bowel challenge" - see the above instructions.

Take 3 capsules in the morning before your first meal (ideally 30-45 minutes).
There is 600 mg of vitamin C in each serving (3 capsules) of Vitamin C Complete.
No, the ascorbic acid in Vitamin C Complete makes it high histamine.
No, Vitamin C Complete is 100% food derived from Amla.

DO YOU SHIP TO CANADA, THE UK, AUSTRALIA OR OTHER COUNTRIES?

Unfortunately, at this point we only ship to the United States. This is due to the ever-evolving international laws surrounding supplements.

There are forwarding companies like MyUS.com, that will forward orders to you in your country for a fee.

In this case, it is the customer's responsibility to find out in advance if the supplement in question is legal in their country. For example, Progesterone and DHEA are not legal to ship into Canada (Canada classifies bio-identical hormones as drugs so they can only be prescribed by a doctor or naturopath).

We have had customers successfully ship their supplements abroad using MyUS.com, however we have only limited experience with this service.

WHY DOES SHIPPING COST $11.45?

For small businesses like ours, the shipping fee covers the very real costs of getting your order to you: shipping, handling, packaging, warehousing, insurances, and fairly compensating all the people involved along the way. We do our best to keep this shipping cost as low as possible, and offer FREE shipping for orders $97 and above.

WHY DOES MY SUBSCRIPTION ORDER INCLUDE $11.45 SHIPPING?

If you set up a subscription order and notice that you are being charged shipping, it could be due to one of these reasons:

1. Your order value is under $97

2. Your initial order qualifies for free shipping, but the order frequency on your subscriptions is different ( 1 product is set to ship every month, the other is set to ship every 2 months).

*The system automatically splits this kind of order into 2 separate shipments.

In this case it is more economical to set up one subscription every 2 months, and to increase your quantity to 2 units of the supplement that you consume monthly.

For example: 2 Vitamin B6 + 1 Essential Omegas every 2 months = free shipping.

Please email us at support@hormonesbalance.com if you would like some help managing your subscriptions.
