Magnesium Citrate Plus gets you going again For women who struggle with chronic constipation, this form of magnesium (citrate) quickly moves things along, and assists with hormone balance, improving thyroid function, and decreasing adrenalin and cortisol. – MAGDALENA WSZELAKI, FOUNDER OF WELLENA
Did you know?
When you’re chronically constipated, toxins as well as metabolized or “dirty” hormones get recirculated into the bloodstream causing liver strain and increased toxic load.

Magnesium Citrate Plus

This has been a game changer for me! I have a lifelong history of irregularity. But taking just one of these each night has helped change that to a regular bowel movement each day. Sometimes more than one (which I prefer!). If I take two at night however, it’s too much and I find myself needing to go too often throughout the day. I will continue to take this! Now I’m ready to try Adrenal Support!!

Frequently Asked Questions

Magnesium Citrate Plus is designed to support gastrointestinal (GI) regularity and complement dietary fiber intake. Magnesium citrate is present to support muscle relaxation and bowel elimination. Cape Aloe is added to support normal GI transit time and stool bulk. Triphala, a balanced blend of astringent fruits used extensively in Ayurveda, is present to support all phases of digestion, assimilation, and elimination. Gastrointestinal regularity in turn plays a fundamental role in detoxification, providing a major route for elimination of toxins and hormonal balance.
The recommended dose is 200 mg of magnesium citrate and 300mg of the proprietary herbal blend of Triphala and Cape Aloe or 2 capsules per day, or as directed by your health practitioner.

Take one to two capsules per day at bedtime with 8 oz of water. Magnesium Citrate Plus can be taken as part of the Magnesium Rotation Method.

If you have a sensitive digestive system, consider starting with one capsule and slowly increasing to two capsules over time.

Magnesium Citrate Plus should only be used short-term (no longer than 2 months) and never be used by women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Stop taking if experiencing loose stool or diarrhea. Individuals taking medication should discuss potential interactions with their healthcare professional.
Magnesium is an integral mineral for women’s health. It is needed for over 300 enzyme reactions in the body. The downstream effects of these enzymatic reactions can support inflammation levels, hormone production, blood sugar balance, liver detoxification, digestion and elimination (regularity of bowel movements), sleep quality, and cardiovascular health (including heart palpitations and arrhythmia). Magnesium can also help with relaxing muscle tension.
That’s what Magnesium Citrate Plus was formulated for - to get you going again. It is the best form of magnesium if you struggle with chronic or traveler’s constipation. This form relaxes the bowels by drawing water into the intestine and softening the stool.
Magnesium Citrate Plus can promote loose bowel movements, and may not be the right form of magnesium for someone who already experiences loose stool. Magnesium Replenish (magnesium glycinate) may be beneficial for those who experience loose stools as it is less likely to affect bowel movements.

Magnesium Citrate Plus is recommended for use when constipated or traveling. We carry three other forms of magnesium:

  • Mag Energy (magnesium malate): This is a form of magnesium that many women find energizing, and is best taken in the morning with breakfast. Also used by athletes for post-exercise recovery.
  • Magnesium Replenish (magnesium glycinate): This form of magnesium supports digestion and promotes relaxation, and is best taken in the evening with dinner.
  • Quick Magnesium (magnesium chloride): This is a topical form of magnesium that soothes muscles and supports healthy sleep, and is best taken before bed.

All four types of magnesium can be taken together in the Magnesium Rotation Method.

No, it is not due to the magnesium citrate which is created through a fermentation process.
The Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for magnesium is around 320 mg per day. If levels drop below this, the ramifications can quickly be seen. Many women need a higher magnesium intake than the RDA suggests, particularly if they are being robbed of magnesium by genetic issues, conditions such as thyroid autoimmune disease, or stress.

To know if you need a higher dose, try the “bowel tolerance test” described below. This means you go up in doses every two days until your stool becomes loose.

Some women are so depleted (stress and sugar are common magnesium robbers) that they need as much 1,200 mg per day to replenish their reserves. Once you get a loose stool, back off to a lower dose.

Here is an example:

Day 1: 300 mg per day; regular stool or constipation

Day 2: 300 mg per day; regular stool or constipation

Day 3: 600 mg per day (300 mg in the morning and 300 mg at night); regular stool or constipation

Day 4: 600 mg per day (300 mg in the morning and 300 mg at night); regular stool or constipation

Day 5: 900 mg per day (600 mg in the morning and 300 mg at night); regular stool or constipation

Day 6: 900 mg per day (600 mg in the morning and 300 mg at night); loose stool

Day 7: Back off to 600 mg per day (300 mg in the morning and 300 mg at night) to go back to regular stool

Continue taking 600 mg per day until you develop loose stool, then back off again. If not, stay on this dose.

To settle on the best dose of magnesium, you need to listen to what feels right for your body. If you overdo it, you will experience loose stool or intestinal rumbling and then you will know to reduce your daily intake.
